📚 2024-25 Reichenbach Scholarship Award
The Nassau County Chapter of NYAPT will award two $1,000 scholarships to qualified graduating seniors whose parent or guardian works directly in pupil transportation in Nassau County.
✅ Eligibility:
- Parent/guardian must be employed by an active NYAPT Nassau Chapter member in good standing (verified by the Scholarship Committee).
- Student must have a cumulative GPA of 75 or higher, certified by their high school guidance office.

🎓 2025 Kevin Gildea Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship honors the memory of Kevin Gildea and supports students committed to their education and community.
✅ Eligibility:
- Applicant must be the son or daughter of an employee of a school district or school bus contractor working directly in pupil transportation servicing Nassau County.
- The employee must have been employed for at least six (6) months prior to the application date and still be employed at the time of the award.
- Applicant must be a graduating senior with a grade average of 80 or above and plan to continue their education or training beyond high school.
- Scholarships will be awarded based on Academics, Activities, Work Experience, Essay, and Neatness by the Nassau County NYAPT Scholarship Committee.
- Applications must include: completed form, essay, school transcript, and resume.

🏆 2025 School Bus Driver & Monitor Award
The yellow school bus is an American icon, representing safety and tradition in our education system. Over 2.3 million children in New York State rely on school buses daily, and it is our mission to ensure their safe and secure transportation.
The Nassau County NYAPT Chapter proudly recognizes the dedicated professionals on the front lines of school transportation—our School Bus Drivers and School Bus Monitors. These individuals work tirelessly to ensure student safety, whether assisting with boarding, handling unexpected situations, or navigating daily traffic. Their commitment to excellence, safety, and professionalism deserves to be honored.
✅ Nomination Criteria:
- Drivers and Monitors should demonstrate excellence in their duties, provide outstanding customer service, maintain exemplary attendance, and have an impeccable driving record.
- Winners will be selected by the NYAPT Driver Appreciation Committee.
- Nomination Deadline: May 1, 2025
- Winners will be announced and celebrated at the Annual Nassau NYAPT Award Meeting on May 21, 2025.
